In a bid to promote health awareness and preventive care, Dr. Daniel Wako Murende Technical Vocational College recently organized a health awareness and screening camp at the college grounds.

The event, which was held on Wednesday January 28, 2026 was attended by college staff and trainees was conducted in collaboration with LifeCare Hospitals- Bungoma.

The health awareness and screening camp offered free health screenings and consultations to attendees, covering a range of vital health metrics such as blood pressure, random blood sugar levels, and eye check-up.

In addition, participants had access to educational materials on various health topics and received personalized advice from healthcare professionals.

The health awareness camp also featured an enlightening talk on maintaining positive mental health. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the importance of mental well-being, coping strategies for stress and anxiety and how to cultivate a positive mindset for overall health.

“We believe that mental health is an integral part of one’s overall well-being. By including a focus on mental health in our health awareness camp, we aim to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues and encourage our trainees to seek professional guidance whenever they feel anxious or stressed,” said Senior Principal, Eng. Francis Miheso.

LifeCare Hospital Business Development executive, Geoffrey Ogutu, said health is the most paramount asset of any person as it will guarantee wealth and should be taken care of properly.

“As you study, work and even engage in sports, ensure that you regularly check on your health to ensure your continued well being as your health is your greatest wealth,” he said.

The event also featured interactive sessions on preventive health practices, healthy lifestyle choices, and the importance of regular check-ups. Participants were encouraged to prioritize their health and seek medical attention when needed in order to prevent and effectively manage potential health issues.

Participants were also given referrals for any other ailments or services that required specialists’ attention.
